Anything that's available. I've piled rocks 20" for my front tires just to be level on a mining road in the BC mtns.
I've used blocks of chopped firewood. Unlike F1, no fancy jacks!

There are several methods.

The first thing you need to do is determine the slope, or grade, of the site. This involves some form of surveying. The tools involved can vary greatly and range from simple tools to precise surveying equipment.

The next thing you need to do is level the vehicle or the site. I was thought to equipment to move the dirt.

Lots of variables here.

If you have the room, you can make your own out of 2x10's. You can cut them w/45* angle on the ends to drive onto them, or jack it up & place them under the tire. You can use rocks, logs or whatever you find. I have the room, so I carry 2x10's & a pack of these: http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/rv-leveling-blocks-10-pack/56865 .

I really don't get "off-road", more like off the beaten path. Some campgrounds are ridiculous though. We were at one in Cooperstown NY, where one tire had none & the other had the whole stack. We only stayed 1 night, I felt it was not safe. I had to use 4 Lo just to get the trailer up on them. Never again.

I use RV leveling blocks similar to the ones posted above. I've had great luck with them. They take up an acceptable amount of space given the time they save me looking for rocks, wood, etc... to stack.

Just rocks for me, though I might use the maxtrax plus a log if I needed a large correction.

Stacked MaxTrax or TREDs work for me. If I need more than that, I can tweak my rear airbag pressure, or find another spot.
