LawnDart's 5th Gen 4Runner Expedition Build Thread

Background:
How it slipped my radar to post up a built thread on Expedition Portal I can't tell you. But I wanted to show off my expedition rig, built off the 2015 4Runner TRD Pro. The original goal was to just go simple, but sometimes your plans fail and you end up with this. At the very least it's been an incredible excuse to explore the PNW northwest. I just completed the Mojave Road, it's doing Moab in 2 weeks, Eastern WA for Northwest Overland Rally, and then FJ Summit after that.

Holy crap! :coffeedrink:
I'm surprised you don't have a RTT... details on sleeping platform inside?

I usually ground tent it, but the GG platform has helped level out the back so I can just sleep in the rear (seats folded down). I'd do a RTT but there's a few limiting factors, specifically I live in downtown portland and my truck literally will NOT fit into the garage with a RTT. I'm at about 6'11" and my clearance is 7'.

With the added weight and larger tires how is it on power for going up the freeway passes like Cajon and Tajon . Great looking rig. Except for the water the Mojave trail/road should have been a walk in the park.

Mojave Road was a yearly thing on the way to the NAB conference in Vegas.

Honestly power hasn't taken too much of a hit, yes it's quite a bit heavier but it's not something where I feel I need to re-gear. IF Toyota had made their OEM supercharger (magnussen actually made that for them, fingers crossed we still get one) I'd have done that. But every time I take it up some steep hill I'm usually worried I won't make it up, and to my surprise it just climbs and climbs, not an issue.

Killer..!! Love the drawer system. Can't wait to see more pictures of your travels.

Thanks, getting it all wired up for constant hot for the ARB fridge, and then next week getting the HAM radio done. If not on the radio I'll do that after Moab.

I'm basically out of stuff to add so everything else goes into gas money and adventures.
