Short Day Trip Old Highway 80

I know there are no pictures of the very little off pavement sections of this trip, but regardless it is still a fun drive to take if you are in or near San Diego County. And it very much shares the same sense of adventure that overlanding is meant to convey. Getting out to places few people know exist or existed, sharing in the memories and fun with the people you love, and of course the journey itself. So this is brief glimpse of 1920's Old highway 80 from El Cajon to Ocotillo...

Normally I can't stand graffiti but this was too well done not to appreciate or share

I hope you enjoyed this short look at San Diego's history but more so I hope this encourages some of you to get out and explore even it is only for a day and close to home.

Thank you, Old 80 is on my list of roads to drive on.
I enjoy even occasional blacktop trips on 94 as well - just need to slow down and enjoy it.

94 is a nice drive as well. If you have not seen it yet, look for the book "Highways to History." It has all the old highways in the county and gives a lot of History about all the stops along each of them.

Thanks - I will. I read up on the history of 395 last year - before driving about 800 miles on it; it was fascinating.

Yeah 395 is a lot of fun. Used to drive it from Southern California to eastern oregon just about every year. Love that road
