Good news for Google Earth and Google Maps users. Google just switched over to images from the Landsat 8 satellite. The new images show more detail than the Landsat 7 data, which has been in use since 2013. In addition, more areas (but not all) are visible without clouds.
The new images have stronger contrast and improved color. Take a look at an area you're familiar with to see if trails and two-track lanes are more visible.
