Family Overland Vacation

Arches unimproved road has some serious rocks as to be expected in Moab. Didn't get shots of the best sections but had loads of fun. Lots of fun in the soft sand too. We've now in the last week used every terrain mode on the LR3 as intended.

The history of overland stages is fascinating. Caring for the animals, the coach, and really roughing it.

LEGOLAND California has some Land Rovers:

Also Jeeps, trucks, and I saw a 4x4 van by the dirt bike 'mini' track.

Cruised on PCH to get there.

Looks like a fun trip, what Ipad mount is that??

Ram mount x grip II tablet holder with suction cup. Worked like a champ over the rough stuff. I'm now a HUGE fan of having an LTE enabled Verizon iPad on trips to pull up detour info on food, etc...

Ha Ha - weigh in

I love that you chose to describe your family by weight! Any historical overland trip documentation would list weights and logistics. 4 Oxen, 2 spare wheels, 600lb flour, 200 lb bacon...

I would probably be stupid enough to include mommy in the description...

... um yeah, we hit the road with 220 lbs of driver, 87 lbs children, 420 lbs gear and provisions, 300 lb fuel, and a complete mystery amount of co-driver / navigator!

I'm greatly missing the trail days now. You never get enough time to just sit and take in a view. There's way too much on this trek. Never mind all the backseat distractions, I was so focused on navigating and choosing my lines that I feel like I'm gonna have to do it over next summer to see more.
