I am currently about 200 miles northeast of Moscow returning from Mongolia. Yesterday my inner left front portal seal (outboard from CV joint) started leaking. The box holds 700 ML's I had to put 300 ML's in. I have been using Delvac 1 75W90. I replaced with Australian Penrite Full Syn 75w90, supposedly high in esters. After another 25ml each in the first 2 checks today the last 3 checks over 150 miles today showed no leakage. I hypothesize the esters swelled the seal shut. The truck has 90,000 miles on it so some wear is inevitable.
I may switch to Redline gear oil when it gets home.
