Is a code reader and diagnostic scanner the same thing?

Any body know the difference betwen a code reader and a diagnostic scanner? Are they the same thing?

Not the same thing. A code reader is only capable of reading your error codes and possibly (depending on the model) clearing them. A diagnostic scanner will let you go further into detail and has more capabilities.
