The new iPhones have updated cameras, and reviews of the cameras are starting to be posted.

Here's one I find interesting. Professional photographer Austin Mann has used iPhones for projects for several years. Mann took an iPhone 7 Plus to Rwanda as his only camera to photograph the land shared by people and wild gorillas. The result is here

At the top of the page is a 9 minute movie of Austin's day with the gorillas. Good stuff.

Austin is posting additional photos on his Instagram page. He posted a couple of time lapse photo/movies that look great.

I've read a couple of reviews that compare the new iPhones to the Samsung Galaxy S7 (not the new Note 7, which was recalled due to battery problems). I think it's fair to summarize by saying the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are a noticeable step forward from the iPhone 6s models. Performance is now on par with the Galaxy S7. The 7 Plus, with the 2X lens, adds something new.

Several reviews say the S7's camera has a slightly larger sensor, and a slightly brighter f/1.7 lens. This gives the S7 a slight edge in low light conditions. Here's one such test

Time Magazine has a nice comparison photo that shows the advantage of the 7 Plus's 2X lens. Time says the S7's flash illuminates the scene more evenly for portraits.

And here's a review that features 12 photos comparing iPhone 6s and 7 models in bright and dim lighting.
