Many of the folks that have unvented compressor refrigerators are successfully adding venting, and adding small DC computer fans to get their refrigerators to use less power by reducing the run time/frequency of the compressor. Wander the West has a number of threads on the topic.

I'm going to an Engel top loading unit because of smaller power consumption, and the retention of cold air when the refrigerator is opened.
