Landcruiser 100 series seat replacement

Hey everyone, longtime lurker but new poster here. I have tried searching all of Google, but haven't had any luck. Question is, has anyone replaced their front seats in the 100 series LC? I've see a million threads about seat covers, etc., but none about replacing the entire seat with something else.

I ask because to me, the seats just aren't comfortable for the long haul. About 2+ hours in, and my butt and back start hurting. I blame it on me being extremely tall and the bottom seat cushions not being long enough. The steering wheel not extending close enough to me doesn't help either. I suspect very few people have this issue, but it's one that I've encountered.

Anyway, I would love to replace them with sport seats out of a BMW car. Blasphemy, yes, I know, but I don't really care haha. I have almost 100k miles of seat time in BMW cars equipped with sport seats, and to me, the comfort just cannot be beat. I'm not worried about wiring, because I would pick up some non-heated, manual seats.

Just wondering if anyone has replaced their front seats, and if this is feasible. Thanks. Oh it would be for a 2000 LC.

If you search iH8MUD 100s sections for post from Spressomon, you'll, find hid did put some Recaros in his 100. He's not scared of fabricating, so YMMV as to how doable this really is.

How tall are you?

Just ask because I am 6'4" but slenderly built and I find I tilt the front up a bit and recline a little more helps.

But yes the lower cushion is shorter than I thought it would be. My Tacoma seat is larger but I find the LC seat wonderful.

My wife can't stand sliding around on leather though. lol...

If you come up with something please post your findings. I'm going to see if the factory offered cloth covers at all and if so how much.

Still loving my Recaro Specialist seat. My SO thought it was strange ... until she spent 8-hours behind the wheel. Eventually I will probably need to add one to the passenger side. But they run small for 'Merican's butts. I'm 200 and 5'10" 35" pants waist and the Specialist wouldn't work if I gained weight/girth :D. I wanted to test fit an Orthoped but couldn't find one in the west to try on ...

If you're in the Bay area you can test sit in several display models of Recaros at Griffin Motowerke, where I purchased mine several years ago.

FWIW my sis and BIL finally listened to years of my Toyota noise and bought their first, a 2014 4R, and I was impressed how much more supportive and comfortable the 4R cloth seats are than my OEM Landcruiser seats. Apparently Toyota does listen if not the Landcruiser design team :D

Here's my post on MUD about my Recaro install: https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/featured-100-spressomon.169441/page-24#post-9135539

Good looking seat man!

We have a Sparco dealer in Charlotte that I would visit back in the day just to sit in the display seats from time to time.

Not in my budget but man they are supportive and look great. Back in my days we would "Lust" after all the JDM Recaro seats we couldn't afford in eBay for our Civics. Hahaha

The seats in the T4R are no joke. Next time jump in a 3rd Gen Tacoma and youll see how they make the Taco cheaper, I was amazed at how terrible the seats were in the Tacoma. I love my nice worn out 100 drivers seat. Wife is complaining though as she slides a lot in the seats. I'm not sure what to do except look for some decent covers that won't be as slippery.
