T2 Relays

Hi all

My T2 engine preheater warning light is on all the time, the guys in the garage who did the MOT (passed yeha!) said it was probably the relay stuck, my hand book is in Norwegian and does not appear to list relays, only fuses. Can anyone tell me which one it is please.

You should be able to trace your glow plug wires back to the relay. I'm not familiar with the T2 but am with the T1 and their car glow plug systems. The relay is usually in a rectangular black box about 3" square. You could check to see if the relay is stuck on by testing for 12 volts at the glow plugs. If they are getting 12 volts all the time, then the relay is staying on. On lots of Mercedes glow plug relays there is a strip fuse inside the relay but it won't cause the relay to stick on.

Here's a guide with a picture of the relay and troubleshooting procedures for the car relays. They used the same relays on the T1N but I don't know about the T2.

Hi Kerry

Thanks very much for that, mine is a bit different as there is only a glow plug in the intake manifold as far as I can see, which isn't much!

The theory is good so I will check it out.
