Anyone else running a roof top box?

I recently acquired a Thule Sonic XL box. My main plan for the box is to transport my skis. When I camp, I sleep in my Xterra so, I think this will make packing around my sleeping setup a little bit easier. Does anyone have any suggestions for packing the box or tips or tricks?

Another thread not too long ago. Keep the load in the cargo box light and soft, to maximize using the irregular shaped space and avoid putting a lot of weight up high.

I keep a two step stool in the car or in the box so I can access the box easily. no balancing on the door stills .

Thats a good idea, i use the rear tire on the X. It is somewhat in the middle of the box and I'm 6'2" so I can reach almost the whole box, but a small, plastic stool is not a bad idea.
