2017 Superduty Roof Gutter Trim Removal

Hi all,

I just got a 2017 Superduty and I would like to put a Frontrunners roof rack over the cab. I noticed the roof has gutter channels with a plastic covering over it. Does anyone with a '17 know if these plastic covers are removable? If so, are there holes that a mount could be screwed into under these plastic covers?

I've tried prying with my fingers on the plastic channels and they move a bit but I can't seem to pull them off. Not sure how they're stuck on, whether it's adhesive or clips.

Any help or insight is much appreciated.

Thank you.

Jimmy

Hey Jimmy, I don't know the answer, but I did find some pictures of what it may look like under the trim piece:

I believe the cab is the same on the Superduty and F150, so I'd have to believe all trim pieces are the same as well. Perhaps a search for that trim piece for the F150 may give you an idea? I don't know if 2017's are too new to have anything in the parts catalogue yet.

I looked at the Body upfitter for a 2017 Super Duty and there is no mention of roof rack mounting points on the roof of these trucks. Have a look:

Maybe you will find something.

Good luck.

Also, I don't know your extended plans are with this sweet new rig, but have you thought about doing a chase truck style rack that would extend out over the cab? then you don't even have to do anything to the cab of the truck? sorry if this is out of line, but something like this:
