    Post Has Anyone Navigated Bowrun Lakes - BC, Canada?

    Hi all. Michelle and I are thinking of taking the Bowrun Lakes Circuit by canoe in the summer of 2010. Have any of you ever completed the circuit?

    Canoe magazine had an article on that trip a few years ago. I don't know if their archives are available online.

    I searched on Clubtread (BC hiking forum) for Bowron Lakes. There were a number of threads.

    Default Me too

    Patrick;
    I am also tentatively planning to do this trip (in 2009) so I will be watching this thread closely. I can't offer much specific help, however I will be going with a friend from work who has organized and led many canoe and kayak trips. He has done the Bowron lakes before, but wants to go one last time before the pine beetle damage is too bad. If you have any specific questions, pm me and I will try to put you in touch with him.
    Cheers
    Mark
    ps: I was just in Post Falls, Idaho last weekend at the Cabelas store, all I can say is wow!

    Im pretty sure the Bowron Lake curcuit is a controlled trip ! IE : You have to plan ahead and organize for your departure time ! They have gone to this method to control the numbers on the trip to allow those going a great experiance !

    Id try to get a hold of the people involved to reserve a time etc ! Sounds like you are doing this well in advance so you shouldnt have a problem !

    I Live In Vancouver B.C. and if you need my assistance in finding the right people to contact please PM Me and Ille do my best to help you out !

    That is my trip report with my son and daughter that is posted above by paulj -- we did the trip a couple of years ago.

    The Bowron's are an awesome trip that is well worth doing. Each time you turn a corner on the trip, you're treated to a new postcard view. It's truly a beautiful place. The best advice I can give you is to take as long a period of time to do the trip as you can -- we took ten days and I would have liked to have taken a few more days (the maximum is 14).

    If you have any specific questions about the Bowron's, I'll do my best to answer them for you.
