Default Tacoma Double Cab Airbag Switch Blank

    I know... silly, silly question...

On Taco Double Cabs, there is no key switch to disable the passenger airbag - instead there is a plastic blank. How easy is it to pop out that blank?

Since I really don't like dash scratches, I don't want to just start prying on it unless I know how it comes out.

I plan on hanging the mic for my 2M radio from there if I can re-inforce it and depending on what is behind it.

    Thanks!

There is nothing behind it. I plan on installing a monitor there.

You can screw right into it, but if you plan on going over rough terrain add some bub sided sticky tape to the two clips (one on top and one on bottom).

I have had my PDA mount there for a year... no problems.

If you want to pull it off, you first have to remove the bottom (where the two cig outlets are), then work you way on up. There should be 1 or 2 screws behind that, that need to be removed. Then pop off the Climate knobs, and faceplate (there is two more hidden screws). Then gently pry off the black outter. that is it. the FSM has a good exploded view, that clarifies it a bit.

    Thanks Wil!

I'm glad I didn't just start prying at it! I think I will first just try and just screw into it and if it doesn't appear strong enough then I will it apart from the bottom up.

    Thanks again!

    Mountainpete,
If you do start to remove your dash here is a good article called "Dash Take-Apart Instructions" from Customtacos.com.

I hate to bump such an old thread... But does anyone have a part number for the dash blank?
