Looks like fun. I need to head to the beach before it cools off to much. Of course living in Texas it is usually a while before it cools off.

So can you camp on the beach? In a vehicle? looks great, I plan on hitting that area when I'm back on the east coast.

Ocracoke is probably my favorite place in the world. I've been going there for probably 30 years. The plover controversy has changed it a lot, but you can still drive over most of it. Can't camp though directly on the beach, but the island is so narrow, the campground is a pretty short walk to the beach.

I've camped at that camp ground just across from where you were, I live in Morehead City south of there. We would drive up and come back down thru hatteras and catch the ferry back to Cedar Island, great part of the world, the people that live there have a great life style.

One of my most favorite memories is of Desertdude & I camping at Frisco on Hatteras. Beautiful beach, fun waves and water (except for those pesky jellyfish!)

I love the dunes, the beach, the lighthouses, the boiled shrimp in beer and the awesome sunsets at Palmico Sound!

    Great trip report and photos~~
