I talked to him a couple of times, he spent most of the summer in Alaska. For a while he was travelling with a couple in a black 406 who had been on the road for "9 years".
Charlie
Unimog U500 with Unicat camper; diesel BMW X5 35d, diesel BJ40 Landcruiser and diesel M37
Everytime I see one like that I get the "itch" a little bit more![]()
Tom
04 Jeep Liberty, 4.25 inch lift, 32 inch Duratracs,4.10s Yukon axles and a bunch of other heavy stuff
The black Unimog is actually 416 and the German couple just sold it to Mike and Melissa in Canada:Originally Posted by charlieaarons

Here is sort of the latest, as of the 14th, Klaus and Sonja were in Calgary. They have 3 weeks to make it to Nova Scotia where they are booked onto a RoRo back to Germany. There they will spend a year rebuilding their truck, then they are off to Africa after the rebuild.

They have been traveling since '94, if I remember right. If you go to their site you'll see how they pay the bills. They put on talks, showing their travels, and they publish a little, as well as write the odd article for a travel mag. Thats it, and traveling on the cheap doing what they like. They are in Germany now for the next year, going over the truck, then back to Africia.
