Greetings All,
I was wondering if there would be an issues towing a M1101 trailer behind my 2500 HD pickup truck.

I am open to all comments and suggestions.

Thanks,
Bigfeet

My Father in Law pulls one behind his stock F350 Power Joke 4wd. He has a 500 Gal Diesel fuel tank on it for his farm equiptment. It tows ok. But it's not a light combo by any means.

IMO, You'd be better off w/ a US M101A2,A3 trailer that the 1101 replaced. The 1101 weighs more which means it has less payload. It is also much wider than the 101. The 1101 does have a far better trailing arm suspension than the 101's solid axle leaf spring suspension. The 1101 was created specifically for the Humvee. The Humvee could travel much quicker offroad than it's predecessors and simply put, the 101 couldn't keep up. The 1101 was created specifically for the humvee wheelbase, suspension, and capabilities. However a M101 is more than capable for anywhere a 3/4T pickup can go and costs a fraction as much. An 1101 looks cool though if that's what you're going for.

M101
Width: 73.5"
Length: 147"
A1 Bed Size: 76x65.6x18"
A2/A3 Bed Size: 100x73.5x20
Weight Empty: 1340#
Max Weight Highway: 3590#
Max Weight Offroad: 2840#

M1101
Width: 87.5"
Length: 135"
Approx. Bed Size: 92x87x18"
Weight Empty: 1460#
Max Trailer Weight: 3400#

Its a little heavy but you do have a 2500 HD pickup,, I've towed 10K # with one and had no issues,, so 3500# loaded would be no concern,, and the 100# between the two would not concern me for the better suspension of the two.. What engine in you truck?gas or diesel?
And do you plan on towing all offroad or ? light offroad? You have the HP under the hood..

My biggest hangups with the M1101 are the width and cost.

The 1101 is almost 10" wider than the truck, the 101 is 4" narrower than the truck.

I've yet to see a M1101 for sale for less than $7500; I can get a M101 for less than $500.

I saw a whole group of those new hummer trailers yesterday,, got a little peak underneath,, way overbuilt,, trailing arm/torsion arm system? They were all brand new.. I really wanted to hook one up and go,, but I dont think the MP's at Lakehurst NAS would have been too happy with me..

^ What type of Hummer trailer? Has anyone ever done a offroad trailer w/ one of these?

I just bought a LTT-FE made by Silver Eagle Mfg. in OR. Specs says is weight is about 1400lb. It will be a little tall for my Tacoma but it should tow well behind it.

I was told they were being readied to ship overseas,, Iraq or close,, had about 25-30 all lined up.. No markings on them yet.. Right off the trucks..

My goof folks, I got to many ones in there the 150.00 trailer is a M101. If it was a 1101 I would have bought it, I need the H-1 wheels and tires for my Jeep ;)

Old post but any of the 3/4 ton trailers with an A3 (and some A2) suffix will have the humvee wheels. ie: M101A3, M116A3
