Desert wildflowers out there can be simply incredible, especially in a really wet year. Nice shot of that pink sand verbena. Some years it forms a really thick carpet. I hope to see some spots like that this spring. Here are a few winter shots from our recent Minnesota trip.

Stretch of road in the great salt flats near the Bolivia and Argentina border. The surface wasn't pavement but just crushed salt.
One of the thousands of roadside memorials along the Panamerican highway.
Abandoned truck along the Panamerican highway. Amazingly, after inspecting it, we discovered that it had been driven recently, and it looked like an bearing failure on the front axle caused its demise.
