    Default WTB: 01-04 Tacoma

My wife made me really happy today. We've been thinking about replacing her dying Mazda. Today she told me she wants a Tacoma.

Really want a 4-dr 4x4 (expo white, of course), but the right vehicle for the right price is what we'll buy. This will be a DD for my wife. Show me what you've got!

What kind of price range are you looking? Built or stock?

My better half says we should really stick to the 10k range, but if a great vehicle came along we might be able to move a little. We do have cash, but we'd have to finance if going too deep. Something we want to avoid if possible. No vehicle payments right now and that is a great thing.

Stock is just fine, especially if we end up with a pre-runner. In my dreams she comes to me and says, "Cayce, next time you go for a trip, maybe I could follow you in my Tacoma?" In reality...she has many other great qualities. Built would be cool too, but in the price range we're looking for we don't expect to get anything modded out.

Yours is beautiful, of course...don't imagine it's in our price range.

Been kicking around as some on here know, about selling the Tacoma and getting an FJ80. Not quite sure what I would price mine at. We are kind of leaning on pushing the idea of selling it out a little ways until things settle down with the economy, don't really need to be starting another build right now. But money talks, right

My idea's for the next build would be:

    93-97' FJ80

    97-02' 4Runner

    03'-up 4Runner

I like the FJ80's the best for price and size but I'm a manuel tranny guy all the way so that would be hard for me to get use to

After a few days of searching here's what we've found:

    1. 01-04 4x4 4drs are few and far between, and their owners are mostly asking a lot for them.
    2. 4Runners are much easier to find, and a lot cheaper. I've even found some 4th gen, 4x4, V8 4Runners in our price range...which is hard to ignore.

While we still really want a Tacoma, the 4Runners are tempting. Luckily, we have the luxury of time to find the right deal. I appreciate the info I've gotten so far from my fellow ExPo'ers, if you see anything out there, please let us know!

Yup, that sounds about right. I did find one with about 80k mi advertised for 13.5k. If I could convince my wife that is the best deal we're going to find, it would be in my driveway.
