    Default toyota bolts

Does anyone know off hand the specs(thread type, pitch, length) of the most common toyota bolts. I want to put a collection togther to bring with me on trips, you can only borrow bolts from other parts of the truck to an extent.

Common JIS sizes on Toyotas (mostly considered metric fine thread):

    16mm x 1.50
    14mm x 1.50
    12mm x 1.25
    10mm x 1.25
    8mm x 1.25
    6mm x 1.00

Lengths will vary, but I personally carry the bulk of my spare hardware in 8mm, 10mm and 12mm in a few lengths. Mostly 25mm and 40mm and some 60mm lengths. I carry a few specific bolts, a couple of caliper bolts, upper ball joint bolts (I use BJ spacers, so I have 120mm long grade 10.9 socket cap bolts), a couple of extra shackle bolts for my suspension (in my case 14mm and 18mm stock diameters), an extra saddle bolt/nut for the torsion bar mount, extra driveshaft bolts.

I just ordered these from McMaster: Four different sized bolts of a couple lengths with nuts, lock washers, and flat washers and a compartment case all for $150, pretty good id say. They are not all of the highest grade but I dont think they need to be

    Wow, nice.

Just something else that I thought about. Toyota sells all the hardware and it's not too unreasonable. It's hard to find those bolts with the captive washers in the hardware store and I get them from my dealer.

Also what is nice about OEM hardware is that it's the same drive socket size as original. The stuff I get at the hardware store is usually not. What's the difference? The drive head size. For example the stock 6mm/8mm/10mm bolts use a 10mm, 12mm and 14mm socket. From the hardware store it'll usually be 10mm/13mm/16mm. No biggie, just has always bothered me.

What do you mean by not too unreasonable, like how much would 25 bolts run you

I dunno, have to check a receipt when I get home. I've been going to my parts guys for years and get a pretty decent price schedule. But when I built my engine a couple of years ago I replaced just about every single bolt on it (a 22R-E) for around $100 or so. I'd guess there are around 35 or 40 bolts when you add it all up. But retail, just don't know, probably gonna be higher than a hardware store. It's stuff like this that makes getting to know your parts guys a major advantage (you know a few bolts here, a few filters there, all that misc junk adds up to real money in a hurry).
