Default Fuel Storage DIY Jerry can holders.

While in search of a way to mount my 20L scepter cans I noticed most if not all the holders were $70+ seems a bit steep considering the material being used while most are steel I'm sure other could be AL. I have a Hannibal rack and wanted something simple but not crappy welder shop look. I also wanted to be able to mount it just lower that my Yakima roof rails when not running the roof rack, so they would just bolt to the standard Yakima clampy bits. I envision them (fuel can holders) like the AT holder but laid flat on their backs and the solid smaller front potion hinged so it could be attached then to a longer bar that connected in an H holding 2 20L at one time.

    Here's one idea, but alas it's $75. https://www.expeditionexchange.com/jerrycanholders/

The only way I can think of to get what you want, without paying for it, is to make it yourself. But then you risk the "crappy welder shop look"

I am very familiar with the crappy welder shop look! But it's nothing a little expert work with the grinder can't fix!

This got me thinking. I have a Yakima rack and I think it is way to elivated, but I never tought of using the space under the rack. Hmm. Ill have to make some measurements the next time the rack is on.

Yeah and thats what I'm after. I have a shop modding out my Hannibal rack now to make it narrower and better match the roof of the 4Runner. Contiplated takning 2 of my 20L Scepter's up there and showing him pictures of what I want and see how much for AL and how much for Steel.

This crossed my mind too but I can't get mine out if I did it that way. On my last truck with A1 towers (I think) they would have been tall enough but on this one the control towers aren't tall enough for the tanks (fuel cans) to get seated low profile or flush, but would help reduce added wind drag.

Aaron, did you find your solution?

I'm looking for a few holders for a new swingaway i will be building on the back of my XJ. I'd like to mount 3 20L cans across the back, which will limit me to a design where the cans exit from the wide side or lifting them out from the top.

The typical Blitz style holder would work, but i'm looking for a more eye pleasing design without spending $2-300.

No, I'm going with FrontRunner's dual cans. They are $100 but darn they look good.

thinking about putting one of the Front Runner dual can mounts in the bed of my truck. Have you gotten yours yet? If so let me know if it would be feasible to mount the fuel rack upright in the bed of my truck. I'm also considering the Adventure Trailer fuel can holder model. I like both but wow their high!
