    Default Some shots of our 97 3/4ton Burb

    Well I finally got started on the additions to our Suburban this past week. So far consisting of a Body Lift, Con-ferr roof rack w/off road driving lights, some 315/75r16 Big Foots, a little bumper trimming, and bed lined the fender flares and side view mirrors.

    Near future plans are to get some 1.5" - 2" blocks in the rear and crank the front to level to get a little more ground clearance. Then hopefully a decent RTT or one of those SUV tents that wraps around the Butt of the truck(My wife is scared of heights).

    Let me know what you guys think. I see some awesome rigs on here and hope to have this one ready for a few off road/camping adventures with my wife and daughter this summer. Any input or suggestions are appreciated.

    Good to see another 95-99 burb on here!

    What motor does it have in it?

    I'm guessing that's a 3" body lift?

    Do you happen to know what gears are installed in it?
    If not, take a look at the RPO codes on the sticker inside your glove box:

    GT4 = 3.73 gears
    GT6 = 4.10 gears

    G80 = factory rear locking diff

    My '95 has the 7.4 with 4.10s. I'm curious as to how 35" tires would feel with that gearing.

    Looks good!

    Yeah I also have the 454 w/4.10's and it drives just fine. You do notice the larger rotating mass. But no adverse affects noticed as of yet. Not sure about the locking diff, I'll have to go take a look. Thanks

    Would love to see pics of other OBS Burbs! I need ideas and inspiration!

    Oh and Yes, it is a 3" BL

    Also looking for a steel replacement for the factory plastic splash guard/skid plate up front. Any leads as to where I can get one?

    Nice suburban! FYI there is a bull bar bumper for sale for a Chevy sub on closeout at Aluminess for $700. Might check it out: www.aluminess.com

    The G80 works okay for a limited slip, my burb has one too.. but it definitely is not a locker. The problem you'll have if you want a real locker is that, if I remember right, that year will have a 14 bolt ff rear and the G80 carrier is different. Most lockers for the 14bff use the stock carrier..

    The difference between an G80 and a full on locker like a Detroit or ARB is night and day.

    By the way, love your burb

    Isn't there a way to modulate the G80 with gas and brake so that it becomes a locker? Something about give light gas and brake makes the internal pawls come out and locks it side to side. It won't tolerate high power in this mode but it is locked.

    Thought I read that somewhere.

    Real lockers FTW!

    Thanks for the compliments and info. I had hoped to one day put a locker in the rear but if it going to be much trouble I'll probably just stick with the factory unit. I don't plan on doing any serious wheeling in this beast. Mostly camping and a little adventuring on the local trails in my area. Maybe if I ever do the solid frt axle swap I'm wishing for I'll splurge on the rear also!
