Show me your camping chairs

I am in the market for a few new chairs.
I have an old one that is a "copy" of a very famous RV chair, and the name escapes me, but they were popular back in the early 90s.
I bought two at Camping World, and now I am down to one, one got stolen off my porch.

Here it is, the one out front.

They fold flat for storage, and are very comfortable.
It seems most chairs have gone the route of having feet like my lounger that is in the same photo above.

Over on FJ Cruisers forum I saw a few new ones.

Here was another one posted there that REI carries.

He said the REI ones are very comfortable, but lack a back on them to support your head if you want to lean back and snooze.
Myself, I find I can do that in any chair, even if it lacks a high back.

Notice the REI chair has that new style of feet many chairs have gone to also.

So what have you found that is very comfortable to kick back in around the campfire at night or sit back in an read during the day?

When space in the truck permits, I drag one or two of these along. It can't get much more comfortable. Besides the size, the only other issue (not counting the fact it screams "GLAMPER") is that I can't keep other people out of it! A pair at home provides overflow seating around our pool in the summer as well. I've noticed a number of similar chairs, but the quality of the Cabelas version is definitely nicer. I've had mine 3 years already. Normally $99, but you can find them on sale for $49.

When space is tight I have a $8 "no name back breaker someday it'll get thrown in the trash" foldup.

Would be interested to see what people with bad backs have been able to find for camping chairs.

I can't last 30 seconds in the typical folding 'slouchie' type 'sink into it' folders. Usually the firmer the better with arm rests seem to have the best chance at working with my back. Am very willing to sacrifice compactness for working comfort.

Hope this isn't a hijack. If you have back problems and have found a chair that works would appreciate a chime in on what you use as well is all.

I have had (minor) back problems in the past, and have one of the Cabela's chairs posted by 111db above. I like the way the leg rest moves up as the back moves back into reclining position. Sort of a "zero-gravity" type chair. It allows my lower back to not be (over-)extended when the chair is reclined. My main issue with it is that the leg rest is too short for me (6'3") even though I got the large size. I'd give it a try if you have a Cabela's near you. I believe it is made by or copied from laFuma.

I bought the Kermit chairs primarily for the size they break down to for transport. I have to think almost backpack size for my gear as space is limited in my Jeep. I was very suprised at the comfort they offer and recommend them highly. The customer service is second to none by the way, nice people in our country too.

If space is no object I have some aluminum chairs from Camping World called Commander chairs that are the best chairs I have ever sat in. I think they are discontinued now though.

Thanks guy's for the links.
I kind of do like that Cabelas lounger mentioned earlier.
It is similar to an REI one my lead here at work today is picking up two from REI after work, as REI has a big sale going on now.

Jonathan, thanks for the tip on the upcoming article in Overland Journal.
I will be all over that.

Speaking of logs, I just realized I had this old picture of me from around '86 or '87.
That is an REI Super Pack, no longer made, but fairly new back then.
That log was my chair for the weekend up there at Tamanos Creek at Mt. Rainier National Park.
A back country campsite with about six spots, about a 4.5 mile hike in from the trailhead.

Oh to be 150 lb again :D

I absolutely love my Alps Mountaineering leisure chairs, I'm a big guy and I don't feel like I'm slouching or that the chair is going to collapse.
