Wondering if anyone has any experience with the Madman EMS-1 gauge?

http://www.madman.co.za/

It monitors:

EGT – Pyrometer
Coolant Temperature
Coolant Level
Oil or Boost Pressure
Oil Temperature
Oil Pressure alarms
2 type of Inclinometers and rollover shutoff
Engine running hours
Battery Voltage
Plus — audio and visual alarms, ability to record, save and reset values, easy to use menu system, optionally turn off and on functions as you see fit, easy to install, 10 - 30 VDC working range, 1 year warranty.

All for about $500 cdn. I believe my BJ74 needs one...

I installed the EMS2 in my 200tdi Dormobile last year and it has worked quite well for me. Now in the interest of full disclosure I have yet to hook install all the senders, in fact all I am using right now is the water temp, oil pressure switch and the voltage. (The inclinometer works well for levelling the truck at the campsite too!) However, the best feature of the unit is its programmability. I was able to calibrate it to my temp sender in a campground in Portugal using a meat thermometer and a volt-ohm meter. The flexibility to use almost any sensor is quite nice and though the menus can be a bit fiddley to navigate through, it is fairly straightforward once you are used to it. I have to say though, your price of $500 seems really high. I bought mine for around £110 including tax in the UK (the EMS 1 was only £10-20 more) which is less than $200CDN. Give the guys at http://www.x-eng.co.uk/ a call and see if they still stock them.

Best of luck.

Any updates - did you happen to pick-up a MadMan? I've been interested myself and have found nothing but good reviews on the net....
