Hello all, pics of my 4x4 Vambulance

Great site, look forward to learning and sharing more.

I have a 1985 Ford E350 4x4 that was an old ambulance for the Park City FD.
Bought it a couple tears ago from a guy who bought it from them.
Flew out to Salt Lake City and drove it home to Northern California.

Has 46,000 miles and a 460cu gas engine, very solid 4x4 conversion.
Its a work in progress, still have a lot to change. Had to remove all the
flashers red/blue, etc. Still havent decided on paint yet. It holds a couple
motorcycles, my 16 foot kayak, several mountain bikes, and a pack of dogs.

Hope to learn a few things here and Ill post the changes I make to my
ambulance/van/expedition vehicle. It has a sink, power hookups,
great rear heat & AC system. Id like to add a drop down bed and a few other things.

Welcome to the forum! Your van looks really cool and I bet it's going to be a fun project! That's pretty sweet that it already has a sink, rear heat/ac, and power outlets...certainly puts you ahead of the game on fixing it up

I just bought a 4x4 E-250 a week ago that i'm getting ready to start fixing up soon.

Slick set up. Some minor reworks and it would be a heack of a camper.


One of my Club buddies Son drives a 4x4 Ambulance for Dawson GA EMS. I am pretty sure his is a powerstroke. I wonder how often they change them out?

Thanks for the welcome guys, hope to slowly build it into a nice camper.
So far its great in the snow, want to take it to Baja one of these days.

Its going to be a fun project, right now its pretty functional as is.
Might go for a top swap eventually, I like a few over cab bed versions Ive seen.
There is a load of electrical up there now above the drivers head.
The current hi-top is nice, 6 ft standing clearance.

Gearing is very highway friendly, considering a swap & lockers, among a ton of other stuff.

Interested in seeing more Van & E series build ups here.

I love old ambulances. Only drawback is most are 2 wd. I have an '85 Dodge but currently it holds up an old building 2 hours north of here. LOL.

Metal stamp says the 4x4 conversion was done by a company
called Transaxle of Colorado Inc. I assume they had a contract
to do the Park City or Summit County vehicles at the time.
