It has been over a year since I have posted on this forum, I have been having withdrawal symptoms but with work commitments and problems with the camper body build, my truck has been parked up for long while.
I really need some help from you guys.
Here's my problem, amongst other issues the bodybuilders have made the body 250mm to long. As it sits now, here in Queensland the legal overhang limits are(someone please correct me if I'm wrong), the rear overhang can't be any more than 60% of the wheelbase, the wheelbase of a Canter is 3460mm so the max overhang would be 2076mm, the overhang I have is 1790mm but I still have to do put a spare wheel carrier on the back, so I will be right on the limit if not 10-20 mm over.
As it sits now the body doesn't affect the departure angle due to the raised suspension, has anybody built a camper body with a large rear overhang, can anybody see any downside to this?
My other question is, I wanted to put a rear bike rack similar to JRhetts's (great job by the way on the bike carrier and a really good informative post, thanks) but it would now bring me well over the limit of my maximum overhang let alone the extra weight it would put on the axle hanging out there so far, has anybody got any ideas on how I could carry my bike, I would appreciate any outside the square ideas.

I tried thinking outside the box and failed .... sorry,
I'd start looking at using some of the inside space, maybe a side ramp up to the front, or a rear ramp. Not sure how advanced your inside is, I used a bed lift to improve usable space, works a treat.
Those wheels are heavy, cantilevering them for that distance off the bouncy back end will be a challenge. Depends how the body is made as to if it has any strength. My sub-frame failed in Mongolia after about 20,000km of rough roads and tracks. Rear spare wheel carriers originally designed around standard wheels and standard seats (it drives faster with suspension seats). Cantilever much shorter than you will need, the inertia is proportional to the square of the distance.

Just stumbled onto this thread so still not totally caught up with it. But saw your post and thought I'd add my $.02 worth! I can't see it very clearly in your picture but how about under the rear of the camper? Shouldn't be to hard to add some frame extensions under the camper (about where your stairs are located). Another idea we in the USA have done is mount the spare in front of the cab. You might have to use another type of wheel to allow for air flow or maybe just the tire which you can mount on the wheel with the flat tire. Perhaps in a basket on top of the cab? Hard to get to but you don't use spares to often anyway. Also apply these to places to mount the bikes. I do like your rig and it looks like it will serve you very well once you get it on the road! I don' reckon that the front mount would be legal on our roads due to pedestrians, lights etc.
I'm not sure what the legalities are regarding mounting stuff on the front of vehicles, but here in Canberra many of the public transport buses have a dual bicycle rack mounted on the front.
These are government buses, so I am not sure if they give themselves a special dispensation or not, but these stick out the front a reasonable distance.
