Has anyone tried filling the tank before a camping trip and transported the unit in their rig?

I would imagine laying it on its side in the case it is going to leak out.
But if it was stored upright, it might work?

Just wondering if anyone has done this, it would cut down on a step once at camp having to fill it.

Going to start loading my rig tomorrow for the camping season.

We did in Death Valley. I tried it standing upright, but the bag ripped a bit and it was a pain in the butt to transport like that. From what I remember, I don't think it leaked when on its side.

I had the same thought as you. I could eliminate one step and also carry more water. I doubt I will do it again though. It was just too awkward. Maybe I'm just too nit-picky. Go ahead and give it a try, just be careful of the bag.

I do it all the time. Fits right into powertank bracket.

Thanks guys, I will give it a try.
I will do some more experimenting to see if I have room to fit it upright too, or leave it on its side.

I just packed my rig for camping next weekend.
I tried setting the bag upright, but it would sit on the burner, and the propane thing that inserts into the bottles is sharp, I would be worried it might puncture a hole in the bottom of the Zodi.

Bag is lying on its side.
When I first turned it on its side, just a tad leaked from around the handle/tube you insert.
Might have been some that got pushed up when inserting the handle.
It does not seem to be leaking, but I will keep an eye on it.

Filled it with 3.5 gallons.
If this works and takes the bouncing around in the rig until next weekend, this will sure save on setup.

Did it and had no problems. It is supposed to be pressurized air tight, so if you have a leak, there might be something else going on.

Love the Zodi Xtreme! Great solution for stinky friends.

Happy to report not one drop has spilled out since loading it into my rig a week ago.
Although the sloshing around sound is kind of annoying, but then I just crank up the tunes a little more ;)

Was suppose to go camping with some friends of mine this weekend, but his turn came up to work the weekend, and he could not turn down the extra $500.

Maybe I will get out next weekend, and I will see if any has spilled out by two weeks.
But it seems to be water tight.

Good to know. Thanks for posting and finding out the answer Corey. We may try transporting ours one day like that.

Sorry to report when I went camping this past week when I opened up the Zodi storage bag it was wet.

I was greeted to rust all over the bottom and half the sides of the bag.
All three cast iron legs were rusted, and the burner had water in it.

The Zodi itself had rust over the stainless steel, but it wiped off with a paper towel.

The burner fired right up even with water inside of it :D

The legs I will sand down later, maybe repaint them.
Next time I will just fill it from a creek instead of taking it full like this time.

I would say only a quart or so leaked out, maybe less.

I had it tight too, and I monitored it for a few weeks for leaks, as it was in the rig for over a month.
