Well I'm not as well traveled as a lot of you but here's my list:
32 states down and 17 to go! Michigan doesn't count IMO that where I hit the ground running and as beautiful as it is I don't think you can count your home state. At least I got the hard ones out of the way.

My wife is from Ecuador. I've been there once for a few weeks and I'm sure I'll be there several times over the next 20 years.

This is a fun thread. Making this list brings back a flood of memories. There are two countries from my list of thirtyseven that I did not spend a minimum of three overnights, Liechtenstein and Luxembourg. No overnighters at either, I have however visited Luxembourg 6-8 times. Visits to each of these nations was a wonderful experience and I will always cherish the memories...even Iraq and Afghanistan.
There are at least another dozen on this board with 40+ countries, I am sure they will chime in soon. Doug Hackney and Graham Jackson come to mind. I know Doug has well into the 40s.
When I was in Morocco, I met a French man who had been to 70 countries. I asked him his favorite - Namibia. I need to go there
