    Default Spot tracking

Ok first let me say I am sure I can figure this out but.....

I need someone to give me the cliff notes version because I am way crunched for time. I leave next week to take 36 people and 2 tons of equipment to Kenya for a medical mission trip. We will get into Nairobi and then drive across Kenya (in 8 trucks) to the western provinces and will then spend 8 days in the western provinces.

So I purchased a spot so people at our church could keep up with us. I set it up got everything going but I cannot figure out the tracking????

How do I set it up so that people from our church (especially family of people with us) can track us through this World Wide Web thingy....

I don't have a SPOT (borrowed the one I used) so somebody will have to chime in with details.

The first thing I see is that you may have a coverage problem. This map from their web site,

shows that coverage is Kenya is extremely limited. More info is here.

So, if it does work, you need to activate your SPOT on the web site. Then login to your account page. Go to the messages tab and there is a small icon for displaying the messages on a web site. On that web site I think there is a link that you can send to other people. If you have a web site, there is code on the FAQ page that lets you embed the map on your existing web site. This basic tracking page only shows your last 50 message locations (couple of days). Recording anything longer requires that you setup an account on the SPOT Adventures page.

Hopefully somebody with a unit can offer more details.

    Thanks,

That was helpful. I am still confused however on the difference between the spot adventure, shared pages, and fire eagle. How do the three functions operate differently? There web site does not explain it very well.
