Default 2008 Chevy Colorado Trailer Brake Wiring

The boss handed me the keys to my new work truck today. A 2008 Chevy Colorado extended cab with Z71 Offroad Package. It has a trailer hitch and 7 pin connector. So far so good but I cannot find any information on how to install my trailer brake controller. My 2004 F150 came with a trailer towing package and a wiring harness that allowed my to simply plug in the trailer brakes. The Chevy manual makes no mention of such an item but it is rated for a 4000 lb trailer (my trailer is 3000 lbs wet and has brakes on both axles). Can anybody tell me where to look and what part number I require?

It's not about the truck and it is not about the distance traveled. Get out there with whatever you have, meet people and see things. Push the envelope of your comfort zone and live.

Default 2008 Colorado Trailer Brake Harness

I just got back from the dealer (20Koil change) and found that although the owners manual refers to a wiring harness (4 wires, blunt cut, taped to instrument panel harness) there is in fact no harness installed (WTF!).
I guess I know what I am doing this weekend. The funny thing is that there is a fuse in the underhood panel labelled "Trailer Brakes" and a reference to check the owners manual

Not much I can do for the GM wiring, but

The general trailer wiring calls for the, "BLUE" wire, to be for brake power

My trailer is light enough so I don't use the aux brakes!

    Good luck
