I am considering the Engel 40 Qt. Marine Fridge Freezer. I have never owned a fridge and am wondering what your opinions are.

What separates the "Marine" from the regular Engel?

The amount of salt resistant materials (ie plastic & rubber) used in its constructions. Where as the older Engel units were predominately metal, from case to lid.

Its other reason is to compete against the plastic Waeco's in the 40-50 litre class,its a very competitive bracket
I like my Waecos but the plastic Engel is definately the sexiest looking fridge out there.:elkgrin:

I have had an MR040 for about 6 months. The longest trip was in May for 36 days to the Northwest Territories above the Arctic Circle. It is great. I should have replaced my ice chest years ago. Also, I like the plastic. It is just as strong as metal and much lighter.
