    Default New 80- Formal Intro

OK, its about time. You guys have already been helping me and I have not even offered a picture yet.

1997, 40th Anniversary, 114k miles, Lockers, 2.5 OME lift and shocks, 295/75/16 BFG ATs, Sliders, ARB winch bumper, M12k winch w/ synthetic line, CO2, New alternator, starter and radiator, Head gasket done.

My immediate plans are: new head unit and sat. radio, cb, seat covers. Longer term, I am thinking a new rear bumper/ tire carrier, IPOR skid, 4.88 gears, PHH replacement (sooner rather than later actually).

I hope I get to use it a little, my wife is already claiming it as her new grocery getter.

Now, do I sell the Jeep or keep it????

I kept my Jeep for about a year after finishing my Tacoma. I stopped driving it, not because the Jeep was a bad vehicle, but the Tacoma could go 9/10th where the Jeep could, but was a fully self-contained camping vehicle to. From the Darien Gap to the Arctic Ocean to the Rubicon, it did everything asked of it.

Your 80 is the same type of truck. A perfect exploration platform.

    Welcome!

I'm diggin the new 80's here!

So where did you have the headgasket done at or did you do it yourself?

Did you put in the larger 150a Tundra/Sequoia alternator?

You'll love having 4.88's, especially when you're loaded with all your gear. I'm starting to think 5.29's/35's would have been a better combination for myslef

There's a Tundra alternator that bolts right in that is a larger amp... they talked about it on Mud.. I need to do this as a mod someday also. Either that or a mean green.
