1986 ex New Zealand Unimog, U1700/L38, we have had here for 3.5 years, when we got her she just had a tray back and canvas roof, we have been building the back over the last 3 years, the back is all built out of Monopan, which is a polypropylene honeycomb, it is really strong can hit it with a hammer and it just flexes, you can also weld it with a plastic welder.

We have set it up for getting away from it all for long periods of time, we are off to spend 18 weeks at Ningaloo station shortly. It has zero facilities, but you can camp right on the beach and has the Ningaloo reef right there so great fishing.

Everything is 12v on the back, we have 6 x 135w solar panels on the roof and 4 x 250ah batteries, this keeps everything running 90% of the time and still keeping batteries above 80% at all times! we are also going to put on a wind generator this year because with the power we go through when trailer is connected is about 200ah a day, this is mainly because of we have a 210 litre fridge freezer in the back and a 90 litre deep freeze in the trailer, we also intend to put in another smaller deep freeze just for bait.

Some of the other accessories we run include a stereo, tv media player, etc. water pump, we have a 140 litre vacuum toilet, wifi, radio, 27 meg marine and UHF, also have UHF in cab that runs off 12 volt system, a automatic fantastic vent, plus we run the laptop heaps and have to keep iPhones, iPad, kindles and the like charged. Our cooking, hot water and heating is run straight of the diesel tank, but takes a bit of power to ignite when you first turn them on, we generally leave hot water system on 24/7, neither take barely any fuel at all, we don't even notice it.

On the trailer, we have the ATV, which we winch on and off using the 1 tonne winch on front of ATV. Boat is also winched on using winch on front of trailer. We use the ATV to put boat in and out of water, it has a pull apart trailer, also do a lot of exploring on the bike.
Also on trailer we have our extremely important alcohol making facilities, this area is kept pretty busy with the hot Aussie weather. We use the inside freezer mainly to make ice which we make in silicone lamination tins so really big solid blocks, for our drinks, never run out of ice yet.
For water we have 2 x 210 litre tanks on on each side at the back, and on the front of our trailer is our second busiest spot of the trailer our reverse osmosis water making plant, it make 100 litres of water an hour from the ocean or creeks. Which is pretty much what we use a day 100 litres. We have a 4000 litre blow up pool which we fill with water from ocean and use this so we can run water maker when we want. We have and electric and a petrol pump that we use to lift water up to pool, we prefer to use the electric it is much quieter, it takes a couple of hours to fill the pool. The 4000 litres makes 800 litres of fresh, so keeps us going for a bit. And yeah use it as pool too on the odd occasion.

I guess some other nifty features:
Our bed, we have a queen size bed that is against the roof and lowers on to the back lounge area at night with the press of a button pushing the table down at the same time.
Our back area, the sides totally open up with electric actuators giving that sitting out on a balcony feel to the area, but when there is bugs or you want privacy there is still the normal size you can use that are in the sides as well.
We have an enormous bathroom at front of back area that also serves as a wet area for entrance, it has a slatted jarrah floor that allows the water to run through and a drain in each of the four corners to insure it drains no matter how you are sitting. The shower folds away, and then the whole are just looks like an entrance back, the bathroom is super roomy and doesn't was to much space.

Fuel wise we care 165 litres of diesel and 160 litres of petrol, to run bike, outboard, and generator which we use to run reverse osmosis pump and with our alcohol making.

We do have website where we have documented the whole build from when we first got her, it is a little behind, but almost up to date. We also have a Youtube channel and facebook, and bucket loads of photos that are public at google+
Will list all the links below but can access from our website as well.
Our plan is to hang around Australia for next few years then to ship overseas, we plan to travel America, Canada, Alaska, Europe, UK and probably many other places, not going to have to much of a plan just go with the flow.

Its a little on the heavy side, but if it doesnt rust I'll never have to worry about breaking it.
Still a work in progress.

My rig.
Solar powered with 315Ah available, 800W inverter, led's, rear tray w/ 2" receiver for bike rack, front deck w/ integral loading ramp for motorcycle and a scuba bottle rack, interior kitchen removed (real men cook with fire and jetboils). Lots of mods to an E1 to make it what I wanted it to be.
Ever evolving work in progress as I get new ideas.
