2009 winter firt run on the trail.
Here's a photo of my rig, a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser. I made this photo tonight on Onion Creek road east of Moab after photographing a spectacular sunset on Fisher Towers. I used an off-camera flash to fill in the shadows and balance the light with the nice sunset sky behind the FJ. One of these days I'll post up a photo of my other overland vehicle, a 2012 Triumph Tiger 800 XC.
I'm just getting started on building up my FJ into what I'm tentatively calling the "Ultimate 4x4 for Outdoor Photographers". In short, I'm designing the truck to be a self-contained overlanding vehicle built with the specific needs of outdoor photographers in mind. By next spring the build will be finished and I'll embark upon a couple "proof of concept" trips in the Desert Southwest. Then, next summer, I'll hit the road for four weeks to travel throughout the Rockies on mostly dirt and 4x4 roads, living out of the FJ while hiking, mountain biking and photographing daily. I'm detailing the build on my blog and will write an article that is to be submitted to several magazines upon completion of the trip next summer. Should be a fun project!

well a partial rig-shot anyway
This is going to get the full treatment before Moab next year.
I'm headed back up there this Sept, but I'll only have partial armor.
I won't do anything too difficult until I have rock sliders.
My All Pro bumper is being powder coated as we speak and I'm having mounts fabbed on the rack for my newly arrived Rotopax. I have 17x8 ATX Mojave teflons awaiting the arrival of 265/7017 KM2s.
Before this years Chile Challenge, I'll have my OME lift w/886 springs, winch, front bumper, etc. completed.
