RTT - Quick Release Mount

My Eezi-Awn is currently mounted on my Montero, on a Thule rack. When mounting, I just drilled holes through the Thule bars and ran a bolt through that. I know I saw a kit somewhere that allowed for mounting to bars, without drilling, like a quick-connect. I have searched far and wide, but to no avail.

The reason I am asking, is because I was going to put it on the wife's Subaru wagon, and I don't want to drill holes through the factory bars.

First, thanks. It looks very similar to what I would need but the problem is:

1. I have Thule bars (which are rectangular)
2. The bars that I want to mount it to are wider and thinner (Subaru factory rack).

I have Thule bars and use those mounts...the two pieces in side the round area cut out and then it makes a pseudo-rectangular shape - works perfectly for Thule bars. This is how I mount my RTT.

Not sure about Subaru factory rack.

The above mounts work with both Yakima round bars and Thule square bars.
What you need are these that I had used on my factory rack when I had my shovel and axe up there long ago.

They make these mounts both horizontal and vertical.
These are the model number 23H (horizontal) ones I had used,

Thanks. I think these may work. I am going to look into them.

We sell these Tent Mounting Brackets for the very purpose. http://www.adventuretrailers.com/accessories.html#tentmount

They slide into the extrusion on the bottom of the Eezi Awn and then clamp around the cross bar.

Allows for easy fitment and removal, plus you can re position the tent.

These might work, and look heavy duty. Do you know what the distance is between the bolts? I will have to look at the rails on my tent too, to make sure I have the rails running the correct way.

The holes are 2" apart, we use 2" x 1/4 20 carriage bolt and nylock nuts.

We have the plates made for us out of 1/8" steel that is plated.

We developed them because the traditional method of mounting the tents was time consuming and difficult to move once you had the tent mounted. Using these brackets you can move the tent along the direction of the extrusion.

You need two brackets per cross member.

We use them on the Thule cross bars on the Chaser trailer, so we know they work with Thule system.

I just press the little gray buttons on the Thule Tracker towers and lift the whole mess off the roof. When it's time to mount it again, just lower the tent with crossbars, towers and all onto the mounting pads. Takes all of about 2 minutes.

If I needed the rack for something besides the tent, I would just buy some more towers and crossbars. Then I could just swap out the whole rack.

Great point, and that is what I do when taking if on/off of the Montero, but it doesn't help me at all when putting it on my wife's Outback without gutter mounts and with factory rack.

I really like these. They won't work for the Subaru though, as the rack is too narrow to get them lined up properly, and the railing is about 2.5" wide. I might order some for my Montero, as they will make life easier there, as I won't to be able to slide it along the bars if also loading the kayak.
