Wallets

I am in need of a new wallet, the dog chewed it. I have not been happy with my last 3 wallets, and wonder if there are any exceptional wallets around, or, is a wallet just a wallet. Anyone have any ideas?

Haven't carried a true wallet since I was in high school. Cash in a money clip and necessary cards in a small folding leather business card holder.

Never understood the reason for carrying a big spine mis-aligning wallet in the back pocket like so many people do or the giant biker wallets with the chain attached. Personal preferences I guess.

Will be interested to hear what others do and why. :ylsmoke:

Too many years of packing a wallet in my back pocket eventually led to some back and hip pain in my later years. Though the brand name escapes me at the moment, I bought the slimmest wallet to be had at a local high-end store and religiously keep it thinned out to the minimum needed contents. Just a couple of credit cards, ATM and DL, and as few small FRNs as possible.

The best thing I did was break the habit of back pocket wallet carry. It must have took a good six months to get comfortable with carrying a wallet in my left front pocket. Until I got used to it, I was always missing the lump in my back pocket and with panicked thought, "Oh !@#!, where's my wallet?. Oh yeah, in my left front pocket."

Breaking of old habits was well worth it - no more back or hip pains when sitting for long periods.

Like Superu, I carry a card case and... well, when I have cash it's in a money clip in a front pocket.

Don't often have cash, though.

I carry only the necesseties, so small card holder wallet in front pocket. I've never understood a big fat wallet in the back pocket. That has to be uncomfortable to sit on.

You're married too?:victory:

I thought about posting that I leave it to my wife to carry the cash, but the truth is we have kids, two car loans, mortgage, student loans, and there simply is no cash!

No, really, debit cards are so much more convenient. The only need we have for cash is paying the neighbor kid to mow our lawn every other week.

Spec-Ops the wallet Jr.

my wallet still looks new and it's been around the world with me for a few years. mil grade, reasonable price. and I love the closeure flap . no Velcro nice and quite , nothing to wear out.

hope it helps.

also I use a TAD Gear coiled lanyard via one of the grommets to tether it to me or my bag.

I've been using one of these since 1990:

I'm actually on my second, I wore out the first one around 2002 and replaced it. The replacement is still looking good and going strong.

These are more reasonable price-wise, and I might get one if I have to replace the Ghurka:

Especially since they have a "100 year warranty not to wear out".

I don't carry cash either. My wife does though. I just use my debit card. I plan out all my meals for the week so I am never left stranded at lunch time and make poor eating choices.

X2 Western wallets were so hip while I was growing up in Wyoming, one day I woke up and said "Why???" I now carry my essentials in a very small leather card wallet in my front pocket. Less is definantly more... You will have many of the moments of panic, but it will be safely stored in the ole front pocket. Not to mention dumping one of your wallets in the can, or loose it while hiking will assure a change is at hand.

Mine is made by Eddie Bauer. Wallet and Leather Money Clip Combo......2.99 at the Goodwill, Brand New!!!!:wings:

I may have to get one of these front pocket wallets sometime.
I occasionally clean out my traditional Velcro bi-fold wallet, but it is thick.
But I also carry a spare truck key and front key to my home, but not the deadbolt key.

I could get one of these or get another fat wallet for the other pocket and even my cheeks out for cushion each side :D
