I just received notice from the Rhode Island DEM Division of Fish and Wildlife announcing this years introductory workshop on Saltwater Fly Fishing on Saturday, October 17th. This is a great deal if you are interested...they will cover casting technique, saltwater fly tying, etc. You need your own waders, otherwise they'll supply all the equipment. The instructors give you alot of personal attention. Its held in Charlestown, RI at the USFWS Kettle Pond Visitor Center, and includes a trip over to the Charlestown Breachway for some fishing at this premier area for stripers and blues.
You don't have to be a Rhode Island resident, and anyone 10 years old or older is welcome. Families Welcome! It is only $40.00 per person, compare that with what Orvis charges at their schools. You have to register in advance, and space is limited. Here's the website:
