Default Just gotta know "60 body question"

I am on my first 60, having had it for about 3 years, significant mod to it, the short list

    OME lift
    258 engine swap
    465 - 203 dblr- LC split case
4 plus bumpers front and rear (front bumper is 1 of 2)
    4 plus shakles
    dual batterys (yellow top)\
    winch (t-max 10000)\hella light
    fuel injection
    extended range tank
    arb lockers (co2 activation)
    on board co2
    the addiction............um list goes on

having seen lots of photos of 60's I can not find any like this one, the front does not have light cleaners and the rear is missing the windshield washer, even the dash has a light or two missing. Now a lot of people have said "missing someone must have removed them and covered the holes" no I mean they were never there no hose no elcetrical nothing, it is an 82, have seen them missing one or the other but not both. Will post some pics after work today.

My 85 has no front squirters but does have the rear. A couple questions/ suggestions about your build.

By 258 I assume you mean Chevrolet straight 6? Why not V8?

    4Plus is quality. Good choice!

I suggest OBA and regular old air actuated ARBs. Nothing like running out of CO2 when you need it the most. No matter how many times you tell yourself that you will always make sure it's full... you won't. Spend the few extra bucks and run some type of OBA to power those ARBs. You will not regret it in the end. The airlines always have a tendency to leak down over time. This will waste your co2 faster than you might immagine. I have gone through my air system on the 40 multiple times and there's always been somehwere that I can't find a leak. If I turn on my compressor and it fills the system then I don't use the lockers, the compressor cycles on to refill every 30 minutes or so. When this happens I know that my system is full and the loclers are ready to be engaged as needed. If i was running a CO2 setup I would never hear the leak and there is no warning that my $15 fill is now a $15 empty tank. Others may chime in here but please believe me when I say it's not a good idea.

258 sounds like the AMC straight 6.

I've read on Mud that some of the early FJ60's didn't get the headlight squirters. I don't recall the age break, but a search there will probably turn it up.

Correct the early 60s didn't get them. I don't think I've ever noticed one without a rear squirter though, pretty interesting. It's sort of nice to have though in rain storms etc if it were something you wanted to integrate. EFI is nice. I just saw my first 'stroker' 3FE/2F combo that was pretty neat as well.

What is your tire size and build style? I'm not a huge fan of the SM 420 / 465. They work but man are they clunky unfortunately... Just my $.02

Lots of early 60s did not have squirters. My 83 BJ60 did not have a rear wiper either.

Toyota Land Cruiser 80 Series.....it's a sledgehammer approach to a thumbtack world.

I have never seen the need to have favorite quotes. Now that I think of it, people usually quote me.

I have a bunch of junk that is not any better than yours.

Looks like you're right. The Straight six Chevy was a 235ci motor.

Why would anyone in their right mind put a Heep hunk in a Toyota?

LCConvert, what part of AZ are you in? If you're in the Phoenix area I'd like to invite you out to the Copper State Cruisers monthly GTG at the Sonic on Broadway in Tempe next Friday 10/16. I will have my 60 series out there with the V8 swap that you're more than welcome to check out.

    Default some pictures

well this was not supossed to be a thread about my build, but I always like the chance to share my addiction. still though I am looking for others that are missing both front and rear squirters not just missing them but vehicles that never had them to begin with. ok ok enough of that. to share some other thoughts. OBA exists as back up for co2 in all applications, I just prefer to run co2 for everything. I can seat a bead without starting fluid and air it up to highway pressure in say a minute, recently broke down front birf to replace on the trail using impact wrench and air ratchet using co2 tank with plenty of reserve. in the pics you can see lockers have their own tank as well as 20# external. as for the jeep 258 well my first 4x4 was a cj5 so I like the motor and it just happened to be freshly built when my 2F tanked, was very cost effective, 465 - 203 - LC split yeilds me about 116/1 at the wheels, sure the 465 is noisy and clunks a bit but it is tough as hell and I sure can go slow

I live in Globe, 4plus parts are manufactured about 100 ft from my shop, Dave is a pretty good friend. The front bumper was a personal favor design to an already desinged bumper, now there is another in the same town, kinda a bummer not just one any more. Would be very interested in coming to meeting, will try and work it out, thanks for the invite.

While not much of a power upgrade, the 258's are very tough motors. Seven main bearings in a low stressed motor. The only problem is the head is very restrictive. They really only have one speed. If you hit a hill and your vehicle will do 50 mph, they don't seem to care if there is a load or not, they will still do 50 mph.

Me and a buddy both had 258's in our Wranglers and kept trying like hell to "break" them so that we could justify putting v8's in. We both ended up selling the Jeeps before we broke them...
