OK...someone at the Expedition Trophy event had a red LED headlamp...
Who is it?![]()
Or, more importantly...where did you get it?
I'm looking for one for better "night vision."

Ed,
Amy and I both have LED headlamps with Red LED functions.
Funny enough they are sort of el-cheepos but they have worked flawlessly for over a year now and get great battery life from 3 AAA.
We got them at Wal-Mart for $12, Rayovac brand! http://www.rayovac.com/flashlight/ou...sp_SPHTLED.htm
The same store also sells one branded by Energiser that also has Red LED, it is $15 and I just bought one form my broinlaw for his bday. Seems to be pretty nice but I have not field tested.
Other than that I just saw one made by Gerber, yes the knife company doing headlamps! -- Well the Gerber has a white, red, blue or green LED selection so you can preserve your night vision no matter how sensitive your eyes are - or you can just walk around like a Christmas Tree!!![]()

My family has been using the Energizer headlamps. They are a three LED lamp. Two white , or one red.
They were purchased at our local "Wallyworld" for around $10 each.
I would recommend them. Compact, adjustable, good light, low cost.
I keep three in the truck all the time.

I've got a couple of the Energizer headlamps too. I like 'em just fine.
Think I scored them at WallyWorld too -

I have a Petzl Tikka Plus that has an available lens kit: red, green, and a spare clear lens. Worked really well for night time navigation while driving and beats having multiple head lamps.

Good bit of kit, in use with our Recon "snake-eaters" and others... Petzl is good to go IMO.
OK wait a minute...the one I got was the TakTikka Plus...about the same I think. Very cool night seeing with the red lens...
