Even though Ive had a RTT for the past 10yrs its always been mounted on my trailer on Yakima bars that are 10 inches wider then the folded tent. When I open the tent the 10 inches help support the other half of the open tent, along with the ladder.

I'm going to be doing a road trip where I won't want to pull the trailer and will mount the tent on a Bajarack on top of my FJ Cruiser. The only support on the opened end will be the ladder. Does getting in and out of the tent cause any stress on the hinges on the tent? Any problems? I know there are hundreds of RTT mounted but I'm curious about the stability.
