    Default Must see DVD...

"Riding Solo To The Top Of The World." I ran across this link through the ADVrider site. Gaurau Jani rides his 350 Royal Enfield to the Changthang Plateau (on the Northern India border). It's a beautiful, simple, thoughtful documentary; he displays the essence of exploration and adventure--just go somewhere wild and immerse yourself in it. It's truly inspiring.

It's also amazing from a production side--Jani filmed himself!

I'm new to posting, but have enjoyed this site for a long time.

Yes, I saw the whole DVD--ordered it from India and it arrived in less than 2 weeks. When they notified me it had been sent, they said it would arrive in a plain brown envelope--marked "not pornography!" I thought oh great, the sweet gal who delivers my mail is going think what any of us would think: "Hmmm, why put that on there?" Luckily it was in such small print she didn't notice (nor would anyone else), until I awkwardly, and apologetically pointed it out.

Just found this on ADVrider: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=191204
I didn't have a problem or find any complaints prior to ordering, but since Scott is bringing them in--I'd wait and get it from him.

Roseann and I watched Bruce's copy last night. It is an astonishing work, a reminder that adventure begins and finds its fulfillment in the heart. Everyone on this forum should own a copy, and watch it anytime we find ourselves feeling we need just one more piece of equipment, just another thousand dollars in the bank, just a little more free time before chasing a dream.

To add to Jonathan's post: this is one of those delightful films during which you smile or even laugh delightedly while watching, and that stays with you a long time, with little snippets popping into your head during the day.

A major bonus of this film is the wonderful connection he makes with the Chang pa nomads. It's really the definition of adventure and travel - and he captures it perfectly.

Also, he's amazingly self-deprecating about the accomplishments he has made: he is truly alone, and one mess-up, an injury or accident, and survival is doubtful. That's adventure.
