How do you secure your RTT

I've searched through here, and I'm not finding threads on how to secure your RTTs from being stolen, since all the thieves have to do is unbolt each u-bolt and carry it off the rack.

I have no idea what size bolts you are using to secure your tent and I don't have one myself, but several manufacturers make security bolts/nuts that require a special tool to remove them.

Sorry but if you are worried about someone unbolting your RTT from your rig you need to start hanging out in a new area.

:D

I was thinking "Of all the things I've worried about I've never worried about that"

Thanks deafdrummer you've given me something new to worry about.

Ours bolts through the floor of our roof rack and you have to have a really skinny arm to get in there with a wrench underneath. Plus it's pretty heavy, not an easy thing to take.

Someone stealing something is in a hurry to grab it and get out of there.
I know my RTT has eight nuts to un-bolt, the head is inside under the mattress and it would just spin without a wrench on that end too. I don't think they would have the time to steal one.

I do not secure mine.
I just have the standard hardware holding it to the roof rack.

It is insured through my insurance company like all the other mods I have done to my rig.

If they try and take it, hopefully they will set my alarm off so I can go out and greet them with a nice surprise.

deafdrummer,

Check these out... Tufnut Security Hardware @ "tufnut.com/hereshow.aspx".

I used them to secure my RTT to my bedrack when I had that whole setup.
