    Default Expo 2 Door JK

Has anyone ever used a 2 Door Wangler as an Expo Platform? If so do you have pictures?

    Gear,
How do you like that TW200, me and the wife both have our own and love them. Great little bikes. Thanks for the link.

I am enjoying the TW200. I just started a thread on that little bike. I have had it a couple of weeks and have put on over 400 miles. I am really looking forward to getting it to a good trailhead. Somewhere like Joshua Tree or Death Valley. I would like to hear your thoughts on the bike. Maybe you want to post up over on the thread below so we don't side track your 2 door JK questions.

It was hard before we added the trailer.

Winch & bumpers, cb, back seat removed and replaced with a shelf with tie-downs (dog perch), wheels & tires, armrests, receiver, gps...

I would suggest if you don't go the trailer route at least look for a rooftop cargo basket. Between that and a hitch mounted cargo carrier you should be able to haul quite a bit of gear.

We use ours for camping and crawling.

Here it is. Campsite off The Mojave Rd.

It had a roof rack but the hardtop was destroyed in a rollover so.. no more roof rack.

I have dreams to turn it into the ultimate "free-roam" vehicle for a trip to Alaska.

    Photoshop makes dreams come true

    (w/o the trailer, probably.)

    Added:

And this is my concept for my sleep in jeep TJ.
Which could also be applied to a 2 Dr JK.

Some sort of canvas over the top which zips on to where the back window goes would be ideal.

    Stores up like this

Although not much room left when fully loaded, it's a full blown camper.

Besides, that's what trail/ roof racks are for.

Looks good. Thanks for the ideas. I really like the 2 Door JK, but I don't see many of them being used as expo rigs.

I see absolutely no reason not to use a two-door JK as an overlanding vehicle. Yes, you need to modify your kit to suit, but it's looking at things the wrong way to lament how much less space the two-door has than the four-door. Think instead how much more cavernous it is than a motorcycle. For a single person or a couple you should have no problems.

You could still easily fit in the back of that vehicle a tent with standing headroom, full-size cots, and a nice propane kitchen kit. Check the Summer 2009 Overland Journal for suggestions there, such as the Worthington aluminum propane cylinders, which are not only light, but narrow for storage as well.

A dual-height load platform is a godsend on vehicles such as this. It made a huge difference in my FJ40, and seems to very nearly double the practical load space.
