I'll look at those, if they are as good as everyone says then they will be worth it. It might be a while because part of the deal with my wife was that she would take away my debit card and give me a $10 a week allowance for incidentals until the end of the summer.

I never realized you were a mountain man.

Should have guessed being from Trout Creek.

I worked out of Missoula and lived in Clinton for several years. I miss it up there.

I moved from the middle of Nebraska to up here a little over a year ago, my aunt and uncle have been here since the early 90s so I've been visiting about every other summer since then.

The price is not to bad. if you can trim them yourself it is a lot better but being carefull to not scratch the stock is a PITA. My dad had his put on by a gunsmith and wow what a difference. He likes it so much he put one on his shotgun and his 30.06.

    What a pleasure to shoot!

I am using the Hornady LeverEvolution 325 gr. FTX. Not bad at all. The bore sight finally arrived and the weather cooperated. I have a friend who is an avid shooter, so we went out to his place to take advantage of his bench and marked target distances. I put a few rounds through it and zeroed pretty nicely. It is a firm recoil, but not uncomfortable.
This 45/70 is now my favorite rifle. The scope is very easy to acquire. It feels good and you don't need binoculars to see a hole the size of your finger in the target

I got a limb saver and took it to the range yesterday and I am totally impressed! There is still a pretty good thud (probably because the rifle is so light) but it isn't bone shattering like it was before. Thanks for the tip!
