Default Picked up a new rifle...

got my Marlin 1894c out of bondage at the local gun shop earlier today. Sweet gun, barely used and priced about $200 less than a very hard to come by brand new model. They included a nice sling and a case to take it home in.

Picking up some ammunition tomorrow and it's off to the range next week.

For those not up on their Marlinology it's a lever action carbine chambered for .357 magnum or .38 special ammunition.

I just sold mine I wish I would have kept it. They are a very fun gun to shoot.

I was just now cruising gunbroker, looking around for one. It'll be my next purchase. I hope to find a 16" 1894CP if I can, but the regular 18" barrel would be fine too. I bought a Ruger SP101 last week and I want a little lever in 357 to match.

I like lever guns too. Do you shoot Cowboy Action? Reload? Lots of fun. Check out http://www.sassnet.com/.

Pistol cartridges are a requirement for single action shooting and my pistol-cartridge lever gun in .38/.357 is a Henry Big Boy (but I like longer barrels). Marlin is my favorite brand.

I love lever guns, congrats on the score.

I am currently working on my 50 state Marlin 1895 Guide Gun, a gun that is essentially legal in all states. Do some slight mod work to it, including new sights and a larger lever.

Just picked up a guide gun last month I was hoping to use it for my Elk but ened up shooting it with my 7mag. Anybody running a "scout" type scope set up on a lever gun?

Let us know how it shoots. I've never shot a .357 rifle before. My .44MAG carbine kicks like a freakin' mule with hunting rounds in it, though it makes a good partner to my Redhawk.

Congrats- they are great guns. I've been looking for a deal on a Marlin 16" .357 for a while now.

I kind of like this in .457 Alaskan. Can also use hot 45-70 loads and .410 shotshells... From Wild West Guns in Anchorage

Default I've seen that pic before...

and everytime I do my shoulder starts to ache...;^)

That's a seriously nice looking rifle but it has to kick pretty damned hard with that barrel. Of course if you hit what you're aiming at with your first shot, you probably won't need to shoot it again.

I've got a friend/gun mentor that has a guide gun in 45/70 that he had made into a take down rifle, not as cool looking as that but a great functional weapon.

I am going to look into getting a larger hoop for mine, I can already tell it's gonna be uncomfortable.
