4-wheeld military trailer - street legal?

. . . bit when not being driven, i.e. being pulled, is it not behaving/backing like a "wagon"? I guess it has "perfect" steering?

I'm just guessing but I think the trailer was designed with powered wheels so that it wouldn't need to be backed up by the tow vehicle. It was never really intended that the tow vehicle would ever have to push the trailer backwards for any significant distance. Or around any curves.

The trailer steering would only need to be as good as that on a trailer towed behind a tractor semi-trailer combination on the highway. I think the guys who drive those can back them up short distances, in a straight line. But I wouldn't expect them to be able to back up and turn a four-wheeled trailer on a narrow dirt mining road.
