Coleman Gas Lantern Mantles

I have just joined this great place.

I hope someone can help me out. I just bought a used Coleman 285A700 two mantle lantern. I want to buy some spare mantles. I have always used the tie on mantles but see this one has as an option the "instaclip" mantle.

Was wondering the pros and cons of instaclip v tie on.

Hope someone can lead me down the right path here.

Thanks

Actually any of the coleman mantle that use the standard mantle can use the clip on. Pricier of course.

Carry your lantern in a good case (not a cardboard box) and you'll be amazed just how long a little bit of ash can last.

And of course, buy a few extra mantles and toss them in the bottom of the case. I have a double-mantle lantern that I keep in the Coleman made case (with a holder for a filter/funnel) and it seems that the mantles break anyway.

I was taught too at a very young age to transport your lanterns upside down.
This takes pressure off of the mantle and helps prevent breakage.

I am not 100% sure if this is true, but I always have stored my gas and propane lanterns upside down.
Gas with the fuel drained out of course.
