The company he mentions now goes to another company called rover portals or something similar..I have sent him an email as I will be over there soon and I would like to install portal axles on my camel trophy 110.. I will post what happens or keep an eye on my thread on my build...
Those are Unimog 404 axles.
It´s surely a way to go but nothing that´ll make you happy in everyday driving.
The axles are pretty heavy, to start with, and were neither developed nor build for the speeds of a regular car. This is an issue you may encounter with Volvo axles, too.
Other than that, the Unimog axles may be known as unbreakable, but there are a few weak points and these may be addressed every 3-5000 miles.
I am not promoting any axles or portal conversions, but it was for a reason that Mal Storey developed bolt-on portal drop boxes and it´s a concept that´s been proven for more than 10 years on a variety of cars, which are road legal with their conversions, too!
So long & greetings from the road!

Robert:
Just got into this thread. Congratulations for your amazing dedication to your passion! Your Land Rover is quiet impressive.
May I ask you who is the maker of the CTIS wheel rotary valves?
Pairoa
Hi Pairoa,
the CTIS or in this case, TPAS (Tyre Pressure Adjustment System) is build by IBF in Ingolstadt.
Let me know if you require any further information.
Robert

Sorry for neglecting this thread for such a long time.
It somehow wasn´t the right time to continue with the project at the pace I had been going and so I tried to focus on a few other projects.
The biggest and most time consuming probably was the road tour with the new Bowler EXR prototype that I just finished last week.
After picking the car up at Bowler Motorsport I took it down to a studio shooting at Junction Eleven (www.junctioneleven.com)
...where the official images for the announcement of the brand cooperation between Land Rover and Bowler were shot...
Then I took it for a 4,500 mile tour of Europe, flying low at the Landmagia LR Club Italy meeting and taking it around the city course of Monaco
We also visited the Manufaktur where the Bell Aurens Longnose is build...
Finally, last week, the tour ended with a film production which will be aired Wednesday next week...
I am finally home again now and am preparing the stuff I build over the past months for installation into my Project Rhino.
So, rest assured, the story will continue!
Greetings from the road,
Robert

Wow Robert, so impressive!!
Can you share all of what you did on the Bowler?
A vehicle’s worth is not what you put into it, but what it put into you.

Apart from the little "escapade" with the Bowler EXR, I am working hard on getting this right...
Currently I have a operation range of approx. 1870mls and if all my changes and modifications work as calculated I will be able to extend that to just over 5000mls.
But first I need to fix the Rhino and prepare it for the last and final modifications.
