Question ? Happy with 24V AIR Compressor after...

    Hi,

Toys are often on 24 Volts, so I thought I'd better ask here first...

If you have owned a 24 Volts compressor over a year, used it often and are happy with it, please be kind to let me know (post or PM):

    - model, and year you bought it

    - how often you used it

    - figures such as how long to inflate your tires (plse be specific on the size of the tire)

any other relevant thing I should know and take into account before buying a 24 Volts air compressor.

    Thank You

I don't own an 24 V compressor....but i sure have had great luck with my Extremeaire Air Compressor.

You can also get it in 24 V Extremeaire as well.

These puppies sure put out the air and worth every penny!

I have not had a chance to mount mine yet but I can tell you it runs on 12 and 24V. It is heavy, loud, gets hot and draws a lot of current. In return, it is very fast. HP1000

The numbers here were measured at 12V. It is much faster at 24V. Rated at 16cfm at 100 psi.

The HP1000 is discontinued though. The XD3000 and XD4000 have voltage specific models.

I have the 24V version of the extreme air.

Had it for a couple, maybe three years.

It has filled hundreds of tires. Mostly over the 37" variety. 38s and 39.5 being more common.

Can't tell you how long it takes, but my 38x14 toyos get filled faster then the rest in our group (if they don't wait to use my compressor)

only complaint, It gets hot. Like stupid hot. I would get a four foot piece of high temp hose with crimped ends for right off the compressor and then go to a normal air line.

Would buy again. I think they have a HD extreme version that will do 12/24 and take some water?? Most likely worth the extra $$$

I used to have a 12 V Viair on my 24V BJ42 running through a converter. But the poor thing wasn't 100% duty cycle and it would tripp my converter once in a while. So first advice; go with a 100% duty cycle compressor.

Then i sold this viair and got a other viair but the 450C 24V, they now seem to call it 450C IG. Take me about 10 minute to inflate 4, 255/85/16 from 17pounds to 35. The poor thing become hot, but i never had issue.

Being on a BJ42 i couldn't install the extremeair compressor, granted the extremeair has probably more output, but it cost alot more then the viair 450C. The viair as served me well in a very tight engine bay.

Installing the compressor in the truck was not a option for me.

Thank you very much guys, very valuable information. If you happen to go to Expo 2010 come have a beer, our truck will be on exhibit (with or without compressor) and since we are going to talk at a round table I'll be happy to mention the forum and the very kind help one can get there.

Oh, does anyone use an air tank ? Useful ? What minimal size would you recommend ?

    Thanks
